ROTATION

My most recent garment, if you may, was made of plastic rods and scraps from various clothes.

It had a constructed feel and the images that were taken offered more of a sense of enclosure.

So with the images, I made a video (best viewed when looped).

I felt stuck.

RECESSION V. FASHION

In these difficult financial times it is interesting to see how fashion changes. Here are some designers that are acting- reacting- rethinking.

RAQUEL ALLEGRA IS AN LA BASED FASHION DESIGNER WHO TAKES OLD SHIRTS FROM THE LA COUNTY JAIL AND TRANSFORMS THEM INTO AMAZINGLY WEARABLE PIECES OF COUTURE.

HER DEDICATION TO BEING ECO-FRIENDLY IS CHANGING THE IDEALS OF LUXURY AND MAKING THE FASHION WORLD TAKE NOTE THAT “RECYCLED” AND “CHIC” AREN’T TWO INDEPENDENT THOUGHTS.

Another Design team that works in a similar manner is Petter Hollstrom and Anna Lidstrom.

Odeur seeks to challenge conventional notions of how basic garments are constructed. A playful relation to the silhouette, a focus on details and unexpected cuttings characterizes the Odeur collection, that includes jeans, shirts, hoodies, t-shirts and scarves. All garments are endorsed with the scent of Odeur – an androgynous, clean, white and light scent.
